Name: Pratt
Three words to describe yourself: typical-Gemini, cynical, busy
Pratt is from Mobile, Alabama and attended Mississippi State University to study horticulture because he wanted to "graduate and leave quickly" and also liked plants. He then went to Georgia State University to study Community Development. Then Pratt worked for Emory University doing a campus awareness project. At the age of seventeen, Pratt said that he wanted to live in Athens, but never thought about it again. Now, Pratt lives in Athens and is a professor in the College of Environment and Design at UGA. "Working with students" has been Pratt's favorite part about his career, and he did not realize that students would stay in touch with him after classes. He said that this behavior is something you do not find with elementary or high school classes. Pratt has traveled all over the world, and usually the last country he visits, is his favorite; in this case, Thailand and Slovenia. Egypt, Brazil, Nepal, Cuba, and Argentina are countries where Pratt would like to visit. He told me about his first time to Africa and how the experience was a "cultural realization" for himself. He said, "I was one of the few white people . . . it gave me a sense of understanding . . . It's hard to be anonymous, and that's a good thing." Pratt also mentions that people usually "open up" to him, and he thought it was a Southern phenomenon, but said "it's how you approach people." Eventually, Pratt would like to retire closer to the equator, on the water, not in America, and "close to good hospitals."

Name: Mike
Three words to describe yourself: "a nice person"
Mike is from Athens, Georgia, and after high school, he moved to Macon, Georgia to work in the poultry business. Currently, Mike is looking for employment but says "once you get a felony, it's hard to become employed." At the homeless shelter where he lives, Mike said he receives three meals a day as well as a shower, but eventually Mike would like to get his own home. He obliged to the picture, which was fine because he originally declined the interview, so I put a picture of downtown Athens instead.

As a career, she would like to be either a petroleum geologist or a geophysicist. Originally when Abby thought of Georgia, she thought it was more of a "mixed state" in terms of ethnic diversity. She saw that UGA "had so many different groups on campus, but people stay with their same group," and "people aren't as adept to mix-in." She does, however, say, "They always say 'Bless you' when you sneeze. It's so nice!" Abby further explained that she has "punctuality struggles" as far as going to meetings and classes on time.
