98/365

Name: Dent (Wildman)
Three words to describe yourself: wildman, merchant, historian
Dent is originally from White County, Georgia and moved to Kennesaw in 1954. Before then he spent a few years living in Florida and other parts of Georgia, but he said these places have been the extent of his travels. In 1940, Dent saw Kennesaw for the first time, and said he "liked the small city," but now "it has been destroyed by political correctedness" and is "too overly industrialized." In 1971, he opened a Civil War Surplus shop in downtown Kennesaw that sells artifacts and all sorts of knick-knacks. He said that he "didn't know there had been a war" before he moved to Kennesaw, and at the beginning of his interests, Dent used metal detectors to find artifacts. He also told me that he played Stonewall Jackson in a movie, but I forgot what the movie was called. I asked what he finds most interesting about the Civil War, and he replied that it wasn't really a "Civil War." America was two different countries. Also, Dent said to be able to dig up history of the war out of the ground; "I'm still learning." Immediately, when you step into the store, you notice that Dent carries loaded pistols around his belt. I asked how many guns he owned, and his response was, "Personally? Or how many are in the store?" I also spoke to his co-worker about Dent, and she was very admirable of him. She said that Dent is very intelligent and he is always researching about new things that interest him. I would have liked to talk to him more, but I unfortunately had to leave. I highly recommend that if you're in the Kennesaw area, you should stop by the store! http://www.wildmans-shop.com/
