Britnee was born and raised in Augusta, GA, and when I asked her opinion about Augusta, she said, "It's all you know so I guess you have to like it." At UGA, Britnee is studying Biology and is Pre-Med. When Britnee was born, she was not breathing, so Britnee wants to become an OB/GYN and deliver babies because she "would like to save other people's lives." She also watches baby shows on TLC. Britnee is a "self-taught" sewer for the past four years and she would like to own a tailor/sewing shop. Her favorite things to make are pajama pants, dresses, and wants to make clothes for her kids. She likes acting and drama and would like to become more involved with the theater department on campus. Britnee is a Christian and has been to Niagara Falls. She loves J. Cole and his song "Work Out." "His music is like real life situations . . . he tells stories in his songs," she says. Britnee also dances in grocery store aisles when no one is looking.

Zack has traveled to Japan before and says "the people are more polite" and the country is "very clean." He would like to do an exchange program during his time at UGA and would like to travel to China and other Asian countries. Zack is studying Psychology and Japanese because he took a psychology class in high school and the subject interested him. For a career, Zack may start his own psychology practice and become a counselor. "I like helping people," he says. In high school, Zack acted, and with the school marching band, he traveled to London for a New Year's Day parade. His friends at the dinner table said "Zack is also single" and he's "an amazing listener." As a final thought, Zack says, "Once you go Asian,  you never miss an equation."

"I want to change the world one glitter spec at a time," he says. Kevni can do Beyonce dances, "can complain about any situation," and has never been kissed. She still has family in New York and Haiti and would like to eventually visit Haiti. At UGA, she is studying International Affairs but finds herself more interested in Anthropology; more specifically, gender roles and the way people think and perceive. Samantha would like to do field work in Anthropology, but "the money" is stopping her. Instead, Samantha wants to become a lawyer. Her "goal for life" is to keep H.O.P.E., and a random fact about Samantha is that she is double-jointed in her thumbs.

Name: Steven
Three words to describe yourself: laid-back, non-approachable, sensitive
Steven has lived in Douglasville, Georgia since the age of seven, and at his high school, he broke fifty records for his football team. As the safety position, he had the most tackles and interceptions for the season. At UGA, Steven is a "professional walker" (the P.E. class he is taking this semester is walking). Because of his disinterest in "all other majors," Steven is studying biological engineering. He says, "I hate writing, which takes out all humanities . . . and I hate physical science . . . I just don't like Franklin College . . . which leaves me in the college of Agriculture." His plan is to become a biological engineer, but Steven said that he will probably become a high school math teacher as well as a high school football coach. Steven's main goal in life is to "be regret-free and happy," and to get out of the country. "I've heard that America isn't the best for happiness," he says. Steven would like to travel everywhere, and see everything, probably starting with visiting Mexico. Steven wants people to know that he would like to have: "he loved genuinely and was sincere, most of the time" inscribed on his tombstone.

"I thought I knew what I wanted to do in life . . . then I got to college," she says. Right now, Beth is just "going with the flow . . . and trying to keep H.O.P.E." She says, "You can plan your life all you want to, but it's never going to go the way you want it to." Currently, Beth is studying Public Relations, would like to do Agricultural Communications because she has been in FFA since the 6th grade and took an agricultural business class in high school. Name: Katy
Three words to describe yourself: smart, socially-inept, unique
Katy is from Milledgeville, Georgia and says, "It's a good town to grow up and grow old in, but not when you're in the middle." Because she "grew up around science," with her mom being a biologist and her dad a chemist, Katy is studying chemistry in hopes of eventually receiving her PhD in physical chemistry. She would like to either become a researching professor or just a professor because she "likes to share knowledge." For Katy, the most difficult thing about college has been relating to "normal, non-science people." She further says that science people are their own subculture. During car trips, her family would discuss theories made by Newton or Einstein, but she says that at UGA, "It's figuring out who Kim Khardashian is." I asked Katy what the most interesting theory is that she has learned, and Katy responded with particle-wave duality theory. From her explanation and my understanding, I think that Katy said something about matter being energy. She says, "People have the potential to do anything. We're all energy," and that "It's important to interact with all kinds of different people." Katy wants to travel to Mecca because she is interested in a mass migration of people and it's one of the five pillars of Islam, even though she does not believe in that ideology. She would really just like to travel everywhere, but says, "That's like majoring in everything." "I wish I could be a Renaissance man, but today's society is so specialized that it is difficult to be good at everything," she says.

My Hiatus

So for these past three weeks, I have had multiple tests, papers, and midterms, and as a result, I wanted to get away from the computer during my spring break. I promise that I'm still interviewing people even though I have not been "blogging". I will try to catch up during this week.

Name: Ben
Three words to describe yourself: hopeful, small, lovable
Ben is from Statesboro, Georgia but was born in Arizona. Originally, his parents are from Tanzania, but instead of giving him a more traditional name, they chose to give Ben an "American name." At the age of ten, Ben did visit the country and said that the country "was more impoverished" than he had imagined. He also speaks some Swahili. When he came to UGA, Ben started as a psychology major, but he changed it to advertising because "it pays the most," and he intends to become a copywriter. Either this or become a "house husband." Ben would like to write a novel and actually has an entire series in mind that would be "semi-autobiographical" in which he acquires the ability to alter realities to find love. He has traveled to New York and Washington as well as to a hotel in Dubai, and he would like to go to Japan because he likes anime. "I like a good story in general; anime is just the genre I get the most out of," he says. "Hope springs eternal" is his favorite quote, and Ben likes the idea of "keeping hope alive."

Through the Wesley Ministry on campus, Jessica is a part of Restoration, which is the dance ministry. She has danced since the age of four, and her favorite part about dancing is that "you can express yourself through it." Because her dad's grandmother is from Norway, Jessica would like to travel there, as well as to France, Iceland, and New Zealand. She has been to Hawaii and went to Nicaragua for a mission trip. Three words to describe yourself: creative, loyal, easygoing
Nancie lives in Kennesaw, Georgia but is originally from Athens. She attended UGA for awhile, but she completed her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts at Kennesaw State University as well as her Master's in English Education. Because of the economic downturn, however, Nancie did not want to become an English teacher, so she decided to open a consignment store instead. She said, "I've always wanted to start my own business," and Nancie said that when she was little, she played "store" in the hallway and would try to sell things to her parents. "The satisfaction of the store being successful" has been her favorite part of Ecologie and "finding something [she's] really good at." She said that she "had all these talents but didn't know what to do with them" and opening a store allowed Nancie to utilize all of her talents! Expanding the store is something Nancie wants to do in the near future, and she wants to see her kids create "happy lives" for themselves. She has been married to the same man for thirty years, and "Love God, love people" is her motto. I could not find the store's website, but here is their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002274308889
