76/365

Name: Tammy
Three words to describe yourself: funky, sassy, eclectic
Tammy is the owner of Eclectic Living in downtown Kennesaw (next to the train depot), and she said that everything is 30-50% off because they are going out of business. So if you're in need of Christmas gifts, or just like to look at trinkets, you should definitely stop by! Also, they only take cash or checks. She was born in California, but grew up in Ohio because her father was in the Navy. I asked what she remembers the most about living in Ohio, and Tammy replied, "trying to escape". She went to Miami University in Ohio to get a degree in business and teaching, but after school, she went to Chicago to be an air traffic controller. Her friend's dad was one, and Tammy liked the job because of the benefits she received including the pay, the time off, the ability to travel, and she "got to boss a lot of men around". She's been to Europe several times and owns a home in Acapulco, Mexico. After getting married up North, she quit her job, moved to Kennesaw, and opened her store. It was actually her dream to own this store and she picked out the name for it twenty years ago. Looking back on her move to the South, Tammy says it was "silly to move and quit my job for a man" (she's going through the process of a divorce currently). I asked what her plans were after the business closed, and she said, "I don't know. Have any suggestions?" So we talked about teaching and how difficult/stressful it would be to handle kids other than your own. Something that is on her list is to visit the Taj Majal because she wants to see a palace that a man built for a woman, and needs "to see something romantic . . . now more than ever".
