86/365

Name: Megan
Three words to describe yourself: energetic, weird, mostly-happy, hippie
Megan lived in Littleton, Colorado until the age of seven, when her father became "on the verge of bankruptcy." Her family moved to Roswell, Georgia because the cost of living was low, and as a side note, Megan's dad is now a millionaire from his work as a financial adviser. After high school, she was an actor in downtown Atlanta, and she received her Bachelor's Degree in Arts Management. She moved to Athens and did some side work with REM, such as "walking the dogs of the manager." Megan also met her husband one day when she was walking dogs! I asked her why she became a nurse, and she replied, "Two reasons: My mom was dying of cancer and she had awful nurses and I thought 'I could do better'. I also had my first baby at a hospital, and my nurse was wonderful, and I realized 'I could do that'." She likes nursing because she likes knowing that she can help someone make a change in their life, but Megan says the worst part of the job is that: "Some days I don't have time to pee." As far as career goals, Megan would like to be certified in lactation to help mothers and babies learn how to breast feed. As a mother of three children, Megan would like to eventually take her kids to Disney World, and she says that her last two children were born at home and "that's where the hippie part comes in." Megan also told me a story about the weirdest thing that has happened to her. When she was fifteen years old, she went to underground Atlanta with a few friends for a Braves Parade. A homeless man walked by and said that he had to pee and then proceeded to do so on her leg. They went to Gap to buy jeans and then someone started shootings, so they had to duck and cover. The most interesting place Megan has traveled to is Russia, for a mission trip because she "met people who didn't have anything but still gave."
