169/365

Name: Thaxton
Three words to describe yourself: amazing, outgoing, funny
Thaxton was born in Long Beach, California and lived there for eleven years. Afterwards, he moved to Norfolk, Virginia for three years and moved to Atlanta before he began the 9th grade. Thaxton says, "Moving to Georgia was the most culturally shocking" because "Atlanta is predominantly African-American, and other places where I lived were more racially diverse." Because Thaxton's grandfather died of colon cancer, Thaxton wants to become a pediatric oncologist so he can "catch [the cancer] early." At first he was interested in sports medicine but he settled on the Biology/Pre-Med track. After graduating, Thaxton would like to join the Peace Corps to help children, and he wants to win the Nobel Prize for cancer research. As far as traveling goes, Thaxton wants to go to Puerto Rico because "it's a beautiful country and part of my dad's family is from there," he says. A childhood experience Thaxton mentions is that at the age of five, he broke his elbow. Also, Thaxton was an only child, and he says, "I grew up kind of lonely but my parents compensated by buying me what I wanted."
